google hemp oil

Hemp seed oil can be useful as a massage oil that can reduce pain when rubbed on sore joints.

The benefits of CBD oil is that it is used to treat a number of different conditions including anxiety, depression, pain and PMS, and is said to have beneficial effects on concentration, energy levels and sleep. It’s also sometimes used topically as an anti-inflammatory (but you might want to check the price before you start pouring it on your bad back – some CBD oils can cost around £140 for a small vial).

Good Hemp has now launched a new range of Pure & lab tested CBD Oil on various flavours, such as citrus and peppermint!

Is hemp oil good for pain?

The main difference between hemp oil vs CBD oil, is that hemp oil has little to no CBD content. Hemp Oil is made by cold-pressing the hemp seeds into an omega-rich culinary oil. CBD oil is made by extracting the compound CBD from the leaves, flowers and stalks of a hemp plant. However, both hemp oil and CBD oil, have their own health benefits.

CBD can be extracted from both marijuana and hemp. However, as marijuana is illegal in most places, much of the CBD you’ll find on the market is made from hemp.

Put simply, CBD restores homeostasis (the body’s natural balance). It works in the endocannabinoid system by activating two of its core receptors (known as CB1 and CB2), which regulate mood, temperature, cognitive function and muscle repair.

The strongest scientific evidence of CBD’s efficacy in humans is for reducing seizures in two rare types of epilepsy that occur in children: Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Based on that evidence, a liquid CBD anti-seizure drug, Epidiolex , obtained approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in June 2018. (7)

Although the FDA has not approved using CBD to treat any of those conditions, there are signs CBD could be beneficial.

For Shannon Donnelly, her own experience with CBD is evidence enough. Since beginning a daily CBD regimen several years ago, she says her panic attacks are gone, as are other health problems, including depression. She currently takes 35 mg of CBD each morning and soaks in a tub of warm water laced with CBD bath salts each night.

According to a study published online in March 2018 in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, the physiological functions affected by cannabinoids include: ( 6 )

“CBD gives me confidence,” Donnelly explains. “It gives me clarity and calm. I am now able to go into situations in which previously I would have used coping mechanisms that were very detrimental to myself, such as catastrophizing, negative self-talk , and overwhelming sadness .”

Hemp-derived CBD oil is extracted from low-THC cannabis plants. This is the type of CBD sold over the counter in nutrition stores and supermarkets, added to lattes in cool coffee shops, and infused into luxe beauty products.

And yet the buzz is so strong that to say CBD-infused products are selling like hotcakes would be an understatement. In 2018 alone, the Hemp Business Journal estimates, more than $500 million worth of CBD-infused oils, creams, patches, beer, coffee — even tampons and pet food — were sold in the United States, a number forecast to hit nearly $2 billion by 2022. CBD oil can interact with certain medications, including some drugs used to treat epilepsy. CBD inhibits an enzyme called cytochrome P450 (CYP450), which metabolizes certain drugs. By interfering with CYP450, CBD may either increase the toxicity or decrease the effectiveness of these drugs.

Among the few human trials evaluating CBD’s anxiolytic effects was one published in the Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry in 2019. For this study, 57 men were given either CBD oil or a placebo before a public-speaking event. Anxiety was evaluated using physiological measures (such as blood pressure, heart rate, etc.) and a relatively reliable test for mood states known as the Visual Analog Mood Scale (VAMS).

Human studies evaluating the use of CBD in treating chronic pain are lacking. Those that do exist almost invariably include THC, making it difficult to isolate CBD’s distinct effects.

Interactions

According to a 2012 study in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, rats injected with inflammatory chemicals in their hind feet experienced less inflammation and neuropathic pain when treated with an oral dose and spinal injection of CBD.

CBD shows promise in the treatment of anxiety disorders, suggests a 2015 review of studies in the journal Neurotherapeutics. According to the investigators, CBD demonstrated potent anxiolytic (anxiety-relieving) effects in animal research, albeit with counterintuitive results.

However, the effect of CBD on each addiction type was often very different. With opioid addiction, for example, CBD showed little effect in minimizing withdrawal symptoms in the absence of THC. By contrast, CBD on its own appeared effective in minimizing drug-seeking behaviors in users of cocaine, methamphetamine, and other psychostimulant drugs.

The findings suggest that CBD oil may be a suitable complementary therapy for people whose hypertension is complicated by stress and anxiety. However, there is no evidence that CBD oil can treat hypertension on its own or prevent hypertension in people at risk. While stress is known to complicate high blood pressure, it cannot cause hypertension.
